Welcome to the Budgerigar Society of NSW Inc - Canberra Branch Inc website. Our small club breeds and exhibits budgerigars. We conduct an Annual Show in March and two Young Bird Shows in November each year. We also assist the running of the Southern Cup and we field a team in the State Team Challenge.
The Canberra Branch achieved very well again this year at the State Team Challenge Competition. With only a small membership, we managed to have 9 members contribute to the team and can be well satisfied with the results. Some STCC results are provided on the BSNSW Web site. More detailed results will go up as soon as they are compiled.
More detailed 2009 Canberra Annual Show results will be published on this site soon. In the mean time congratulations to Champion winners below: J & G Smithers, G & A Hand, G Berwick and the Kilpatrick family.
Our monthly meetings conduct the business of the Branch. We hold a table show at each meeting in a friendly social atmosphere. Newer members judge the birds mentored by a senior member. The results are less important than the experience gained by all involved.
After the table show we conduct a discussion on a topic chosen by the members. Occasionally this involves a visiting expert in a field relating to the care of budgerigars.
We seek to promote the best interests of the budgerigar in the home, the aviary and in the wild.
